The show was started in 1992, by two film media students - Trey Parker and Matt Stone and over the years it has been known to cause great controversy over its often shocking subject matter and lewd language used by the shows main animated characters, Kyle, Kenny, Cartman and Stan, all children.
Other controversial issues and vulgar antics that have cropped up in the show include satirical commentary on Homosexuality, Global Warming, Religion and Scientology

But is it fair to already be making light humour of the death of Steve Irwin,44, who was accidentally killed only two months ago when a sting ray's barb punctured his heart off the australian coast whilst filming one of his shows!?
Having viewed the 47 second clip of the show, it's actually not as bad as the creators of South Park could have made it. It doesn't insult or bad mouth the death of Irwin and infact the scene depicts Satan asking whether it is right to comment so early after the Crocodile Hunter's death. Now, I know that simply because I live in Australia, I should be outraged that a national hero is being depicted in South Park so early on after his passing, but IT'S REALLY NOT THAT BAD. They aren't mocking his death, they are just using their amendment of Free Speech to make a social comment on an issue that the whole world will take notice of. They did it so the viewer ratings would go up when the show was aired in the respective countries and they would recieve unprecidented publicity on the concept because its so "CONTROVERSIAL" and it worked!! Didn't it!? The Network 10 news bulletins made it seem much more controversial and unacceptable with their running dialogue (courtesy of the lovely Sandra Sully... ha) every hour which, in my opinion, basically brainwashed the country into believing that the show had done such an unspeakable thing. When after watching the clip, its really not as bad as it was made out to be. However...
...Wanna know what is sick regarding Steve Irwin's passing!? People are dressing up like him with sting ray barbs and all for Halloween?!! Yes people thats right... blood and a sting ray barb attached to Khaki's is the new "IT" costume for Halloween 2006... you heard it here first... don't be surprised if people come knocking on your door dressed like that this year?!!? Now that is sick and twisted and is the most disrespectful way to remember Irwin's legacy. Enough Said.
If you want to watch the "hideous" clip of South Park featuring Steve Irwin to understand all the drama, click on the link as for some bizarre reason, my blog isn't letting me embed videos.
